September HotSpot Policing Results

Your Hotspot Policing Team have spoken to over 1600 community members, including local businesses, residents, shoppers and visitors; as well as children and teens across 'hotspot' areas of Eastbourne during the month of September.

Hotspot Policing patrols are in addition to regular patrols conducted by your Neighbourhood Policing Team, and help to target the areas that need us most – because everyone deserves to feel safe where they work, live and play.

We're here to keep you safe and we want to hear from you, so if you see us out and about come and talk to us.

National Hate Crime Awareness Week

As part of a National campaign of awareness around hate crime this week, local officers from your Eastbourne Neighbourhood Policing Team have been holding awareness raising sessions across the district.

Earlier today we were joined by Mediation Plus and security staff at Eastbourne District General Hospital for a morning of awareness raising, with officers and partners speaking to both patients and staff about what a hate crime is, the impact it has on victims and the wider community, and how to report.
 

Elsewhere during the week, officers held awareness raising sessions at our Town Centre Police POD each morning between 10 and 12, aswell as hosting events inside The Beacon Shopping Centre with partners.

Together our message is simple; there is no place for hate in Sussex.

Hate crime is someone being targeted due to their disability, race, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity or any perceived difference.

If you’re a victim or witness a hate crime, please tell us about it. You will be believed and supported.

Eastbourne shoplifter becomes first to be issued new GPS tag

Sussex are the first force in the country to secure GPS monitoring tags to prolific shoplifters, to help manage banning orders from some shops.

A 50 year old woman from Eastbourne, became the first person to be fitted with a Buddi tag after being given a two-year CBO off the back of guilty pleas to 12 shoplifting charges.

The tags are part of a UK-first trial in East Sussex, aimed at deterring repeat offenders.

We know the damage shoplifting causes, and we're taking steps to protect businesses.

• Friday 17th October, 20:00-21:00, Eastbourne Police POD, Terminus Road, for a VAWG (violence against women & girls) event, practical advice and take away safety tools.

• Monday 27th October, 10:00-14:00, join PCSOs, and local partners for a community day of action around ASB, starting at the Hampden Park café, and finishing up in the skate park.

• Thursday 30th October, 11:00-13:00, Langney Community Centre’s Bake and Take day, meet the team, obtain advice and support.

November

• Friday 7th November, 17:00-18:00, join officers outside St Thomas A Becket Primary School, obtain support, advice and report local concerns.

• Tuesday 11th November, 10:00-12:00, Eastbourne Police POD, Terminus Road, meet your town officers working from the POD for a morning of advice and support to help keep you, your property and your finances safe.

• Sunday 16th November, 10:00-11:00, along Milfoil Drive, street meeting with local PCSOs, advice, support and opportunity to report local concerns to your ward Police Community Support Officers.

• Friday 21st November, 09:30-10:00, parked up by Ocklynge Cemetery Car Park, meet local officers on patrol, obtain advice and support.

• Friday 21st November, 14:00-15:00, Holly Park, Willingdon Trees, join officers on patrols, updates on anti-social behaviour patrols that have been conducted since the last community meeting in the Summer.

• Saturday 22nd November, 09:30-10:30, join officers in Butts Brow Car Park for a community hour of crime prevention advice and support for walkers and residents.
